Pre-approved, every insurer

Auto glass insurance claims in Oroville, handled alongside you

After your window cracks or breaks it can be frustrating, even confusing, to deal with your insurance company. A Touch of Glass & Screen is pre-approved with all insurance companies and walks you through the claim.

Why a broken window becomes a confusing phone call

The glass breaks on a Tuesday and by Wednesday you are on hold, repeating your policy number to a stranger. Nobody warns you that glass coverage is its own line on your policy, that it varies from one policy to the next, or that a call that should take five minutes can eat an afternoon.

We are not going to tell you what your policy covers. That depends on your own policy, and anyone who promises a number before reading it is guessing. What we can do is take the confusion out of the process: we explain it in plain words, in the order it happens, and we do not leave you to work it out alone.

The one thing we say outright is the thing that is ours to say. A Touch of Glass & Screen is pre-approved with all insurance companies, so you are not having to find out whether the shop will be accepted before you have even described the break.

How we walk you through the claim

Call the shop at (530) 538-8100 and tell us what broke, on which vehicle. From there we provide claim assistance that helps walk you through your insurance claim, so you know what happens next and what your insurer is likely to ask you for. You are not translating insurance language on your own.

Because we are pre-approved with all insurance companies, the shop can take it from the glass side while you deal with the policy side. We set the glass the way we would for anyone: the old glass out, the edge cleaned back, a fresh bead of urethane, the new glass set, and the camera recalibrated if your vehicle has one.

If you would rather have the work done at your house or at the job site, the mobile unit comes at no extra charge in Oroville and the surrounding area. A claim does not change where the glass can be set. Ask us, and we will say plainly what can be done in the lot and what is better in the shop.

After the claim, the glass and the camera

Closing the claim is not the end of the job. If your vehicle has a lane departure camera behind the mirror, the new windshield changes what that camera sees, and it has to be recalibrated afterwards. We do that in our own shop, so you do not spend a second day booking a dealership. The ADAS recalibration page lists what the camera feeds and when it is due.

Treat the new glass gently while the urethane cures, leave any retention tape on for the day, and skip the car wash. Our work carries a warranty on parts and workmanship, ask for details, and if you ever think something is wrong with the install, you call the same number and talk to the people who did it.

The claim sheet

Four things to have in hand when the glass breaks.

None of this is paperwork we need before we can help. It is what makes the claim go faster for you, whoever you are insured with.

  1. Your policy details

Your insurance card or policy number, and the name of the company. Whether glass is covered, and what you pay, depends on your own policy, so this is the one piece only you can bring.

  2. The vehicle's year, make and model

The VIN helps too. Glass is matched to the exact vehicle, and a camera behind the mirror changes what has to be done after a windshield goes in.

  3. Photos of the damage

A phone picture of the crack or the chip, taken before it gets worse. Show the whole windshield once and the damage up close once, so the size and the position are clear.

  4. When and where it happened

A stone off the road, a crack you found in the morning, a window that broke in a parking lot. A few plain sentences are enough, and it is easier to answer an insurer from notes than from memory.
