The glass sheet

Every glass job the shop takes on, from a rock chip to a motorhome windshield.

Seven jobs, one sheet. Each one links to the page that explains how it is done and what to do afterward.

  1. Technician lifting a new windshield into place in the shop

    Full replacement

    Windshield replacement

Cracked across the driver's sweep, cracked in from the edge, or leaking where the moulding has lifted. The old glass is cut out, the pinch weld is prepped and primed, and the new windshield is set on a fresh urethane bead.

One customer timed a window job at about 45 minutes with an hour for the adhesive to set, and the same idea holds for a windshield: the fit is quick, the cure takes its time. The camera is recalibrated after.

    Before it spreads

    Rock chip repair

Heat, cold and potholes all run a chip across the glass. Filled in time, it stays a chip: the damage is cleaned and vacuumed, resin is injected, cured under UV and polished.

We have run an in-shop chip repair special at $35, so call for today's price. A chip that has grown too large, or sits in the camera zone, is a replacement instead.

    In our own shop

    ADAS camera recalibration

The lane camera behind your mirror has to be re-aimed to manufacturer spec whenever the glass in front of it changes. We do it with state-of-the-art equipment in our Oroville shop.

That means no trip to the dealership. Lane departure warning, forward collision sensors, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, automatic braking and parking and backup cameras all depend on it.

  4. Car door with the trim panel off showing the window regulator and new side glass
Door trim off, regulator and motor exposed, new glass in the channel

    Doors, back glass, sunroofs

    Side windows and regulators

Tempered side glass shatters into the door, and a snapped regulator cable lets a good window drop out of sight. The door panel comes off, the fragments are swept out, and the regulator or motor is swapped.

The new glass is set back in its channels. Back glass and sunroofs are part of the same job list.

  5. Restored clear headlight on a blue Toyota Tacoma

Oxidised, yellowed headlight lens before restoration

The same kind of lens before: oxidised and yellow

    About two hours

    Headlight restoration

Sun-oxidised lenses turn yellow and cut the light you get at night. The lens is masked, wet-sanded, polished and sealed.

One customer had a pair restored in two hours for $50 and said they looked brand new. When a lens is cracked or pitted through, replacing it is the honest answer.

  6. Installer on a ladder setting a motorhome windshield in the Oroville lot
Motorhome windshield going in from a ladder

    Semis to tractors

    Motorhome, semi and farm glass

Class A motorhome windshields, semis, logging trucks, tractors and classics. Any year of any vehicle, set in the shop or from a ladder in the lot.

The mobile unit comes out at no extra charge in Oroville and the surrounding area.
